1.How can I make my sentences really long?
---Always, always be verbose. Use as many words as you can to say the simplest thing...kind of like this.
---Rephrase what you say to take up space. Try rearranging it into a different format, this way you'll take up tons of space. Just make sure you're always repetitive in a different way otherwise its boring.
---Use lots, and lots of description. Tons, talk about somethings, size, look, taste, feel, smell, sound, and if you can't use one of the five senses directly try to use it in connecting it.
------Such as in this Example: The big juicy red apple reminded me of the soft caress of the breeze in the orchard when I was younger. See how I incoprorated touch into that.
---Do not use contractions, this way one word now counts as two!
2. How can I make my story more interesting?
--- Try some dialogue it wil add a new dimension to the story and takes the reader away from the boring structure of paragraphs for a breif moment.
"Show don't tell"
3. What's the biggest mistake people make?
---Make sure you keep the same tense. If you start in past stay in past.
4. How can I think of a great idea for my story?
---Try taking situations from real life. Like things that have happened to you in the past, or even things that will happen. It doesn't necessarily have to be something that happened to you it could be something that hapened to someone else as long as they're ok with you writing about it.
---Try writing down a whole bunch of words and making the beginnings of your piece with those. You could even take your words from the dictionary, or some other book, just don't steal anyone else's idea.
5. What if I get stuck?
---Take a break, go get a drink, or watch some tv, read a book, just get away from your piece for a little while and stop thinking about it, something will probably come to you.
---If that doesn't work try forcing yourself to write a little bit, hoepfully more will come.
---If you're still stuck try writing something else, a letter, another piece hopefully focusing on something else will get you going on your story.
---Try reading through your piece maybe you will find something you can expand upon, or maybe you will just find the storyline again.
---If all else fails, ask someone else to read your piece, or the most recent part and see if they can help you.
6. When should I edit my piece?
--After you finish!!! This is very important, never edit your piece as you write it, wait until your done otherwise you risk disrupting the idea and not finishing the piece, its best to make mistakes and fix them later once you've finished. |
